Case Study 05 - Puppy Socialisation and 101’s

Loose-leash walking practise. Being a Shiba Inu, she struggled alot with engagement and impulse control. Here we are proofing her mastering of the heel street walk after our extensive work in the puppy stages. Video from 07/08/2022

1-year old female Shiba Inu

The challenges: Establishing structures and boundaries as a puppy, improving socialisation skills specifically neutrality, low biddability, low drive, but high prey-drive

The approach: Structured exercises aimed at constructing engagement, impulse-control training and reinforcement of calm behaviour around environmental stimuli, redirecting prey drive to play drive.

The progress: Improved ability to focus on cue, redirection of prey drive into engagement, calm socialisation around dogs/ability to be neutral
